About
About Gnocco
Gnocco was born from a simple idea: bring the soul of Modena to New York.
Since opening our doors in 2000, we’ve been sharing the flavors, traditions, and spirit of Emilia-Romagna with our neighborhood and with guests from around the world. What started as a small Italian restaurant has grown into a beloved gathering place where food, wine, and conversation come together the way they do back home.
Our name comes from Gnocco Fritto, one of Modena’s most iconic foods — warm, golden pillows of fried dough traditionally served with cured meats, cheeses, and good company. It’s humble, generous, and meant for sharing. That philosophy still defines everything we do.
Rooted in Tradition
At Gnocco, we stay true to the culinary heritage of Modena and the Emilia-Romagna region — one of Italy’s most celebrated food capitals. Our kitchen prepares fresh pasta, slow-simmered sauces, and classic regional dishes using time-honored techniques and carefully selected ingredients.
From handmade tortellini and tagliatelle to aged balsamic vinegar from Modena and premium Italian cured meats, we are committed to preserving the flavors and craftsmanship that make this cuisine so special.
A Place to Gather
Gnocco is more than a restaurant — it’s a meeting place.
Over the years, we’ve hosted first dates, family celebrations, late-night dinners, business meetings, weddings, and countless toasts among friends. Whether you’re here for a relaxed glass of Lambrusco, a long dinner on the patio, or a festive private event, our goal is always the same: make you feel at home.
Warm hospitality, generous portions, and a lively atmosphere are all part of the experience.
Looking Forward
As we continue to grow, our mission remains unchanged: honor our roots while sharing the culture of Modena in new and exciting ways — through events, collaborations, specialty products, and experiences that go beyond the table.
Because for us, food is not just about eating.
It’s about memory, connection, and joy.
And there’s always room for one more at the table.
Benvenuti da Gnocco.
